... we did it!

Wow -- what an amazing four days. We all made it to the summit with no injuries. I'm a little tired and sore, and I've got a bad sunburn on the backs of my hands (seriously, who remembers to put sunscreen on the backs of their hands?), but I'm honestly a little surprised at how good I'm feeling today.

This is us at the summit of Point Lenana -- 4895 kilometers (16,060 feet) above sea level.

Point Lenana is the one in the middle of this photo. (You can't reach the top of the larger peak on the right w/o serious climbing experience and serious climbing gear.)

More details and more photos to come in the next few days!!

  • Go you! That is great. We only hike up 4,000 foot mountains around here--way to quadruple that! (By the way, you're on malaria meds, right? I bet that's why you got sunburned on your hands. For some reason the malaria meds make you more susceptible to getting burnt and that exact thing happened to a bunch of us in Madagascar. Random.) Yay Mt. Kenya! --Jessica

  • Definitely could be the malaria meds -- I normally don't burn very easily and the backs of my hands are still really red.

Glad you liked the pictures guys -- stay tuned, the best ones are from Days 2, 3, and 4!
